About ALL Kids First!

ALL Kids First!, is a coalition of child advocacy, civil rights and education groups supporting the constitutional guarantee of a free public education for all Michigan children.

ALL Kids First! (AKF) does not support the expenditure of public funds, either directly or indirectly, to support nonpublic schools, whether parochial, denominational, or secular. AKF believes vouchers and/or tuition tax credits will increase taxes, subsidize private and parochial education and drain badly needed resources from those who need them most. The coalition of two hundred plus groups formed to defeat the voucher movement that is currently underway in Michigan.

ALL Kids First! believes every effort must be made to preserve the Article 8, Section 2 prohibition against using public taxpayer funds to support private schools, either directly or indirectly, and to retain this guarantee without change. The best legal safeguard against vouchers and tuition tax credits is the anti-parochiaid provision in our state constitution.

ALL Kids First! believes tax dollars should be spent to improve learning conditions for all children, with proven and effective initiatives such as lower class sizes, quality teachers and parental involvement.
