ALL Kids First! Welcomes Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce

LANSING, Mich.-The Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce voted today to oppose the school voucher proposal that will go before Michigan voters this fall.

"We welcome the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce to our side of this issue," said Georgene Campbell, chairperson of ALL Kids First! "Having one of the leaders in the Michigan business community come out against school vouchers just reinforces what we have been saying all along. The school voucher scheme is not good for our children, our local neighborhood schools or our communities. This proposal needs to be defeated in November."

"I congratulate the Detroit Chamber of Commerce for doing the right thing for the right reasons," said former Governor James J. Blanchard, honorary chair of ALL Kids First! "Hopefully, other business organizations will closely evaluate this private voucher proposal and join us in opposition."

Campbell went on to say that ALL Kids First! is hearing from more and more people across the state about their opposition to school vouchers.

"It doesn't matter if you're a Republican or a Democrat, what religion you practice or where you live, people do not want to see school vouchers drain money away from their local public schools," Campbell said. "The Chamber's stance sends a very loud and clear message to Detroit and communities across the state - don't let vouchers hurt our kids and our schools."
